Furthermore, it is just as imperative to have multiple protective factors to counteract the negative effects of stress. Children are not immune to stress, and they can be impacted by it even before birth. Stress is a major risk factor for development, but can be offset by various protective factors. In order to best combat the negative effects of stress on child development, it is imperative for early childhood education to intervene when children seem to be at risk for toxic levels of stress. Therefore, I have created a day-long event for early childhood educators to learn more about this issue, and to collaborate with one another to help solve this threat to development.
